1928 Le Mans                  

Alvis entered two FWD cars at Le Mans in 1928, one (No.27) driven by Maurice Harvey and Harold Purdy and the other (No.28) by Sammy Davis and Bill Urquhart-Dykes.  They finished 6th and 9th overall and No. 27 won the 1½ Litre class.  Davis's story of the race is found at this link:  Sammy Davis on the 1928 Le Mans    Several period photos follow in the gallery.
